I wanted to lose a little bit of weight and tone up my flabby bits before going away with my husband for our 20th wedding anniversary. As someone who despises exercise with a passion, I knew it wouldn’t be easy but I was determined to stick to whatever plan I had to for the three months before my holiday.

What a pleasant surprise I had!

I kept a food diary for the week before my first session with Liv, which she looked at before I came. I was told that what I ate was not too much of a problem, but Liv made a few suggestions and tweaks to my current diet and that was it. Great – no stupid diet to follow with ridiculous ingredients to source.

The training sessions, once a week, were very intense but obviously carefully planned and monitored to make sure I didn’t get hurt. No two sessions were ever the same so I couldn’t get bored with them or anticipate which set of exercises would be next. Every part of my body my was worked on, paying particular attention to bits I was unhappy with, i.e. the onset of ‘bingo wings’!

My biggest surprise was that there was no unrealistic exercise plan for me to follow at home inbetween our sessions. I was to try and fit in 3 x 15 minute sessions per week with a couple of goes on my exercise bike too. The exercise bike was great – don’t go at it too hard, a light sweat but still be able to hold a conversation. My kind of exercise. I’d sit there for 10-15 mins and read my kindle!

Within a few weeks, my shape had started to change, my weight dropped and people started to notice that I looked better. I went from a dress size 12 to a size 10, which I haven’t been for many years. I was hovering around the 9 stone 11 mark at the start of the sessions and am now managing to stay between 9 stone 1 – 9 stone 4!

Liv was so encouraging during the few months I was with her, she worked out exactly what I needed to do and she was right! I still don’t like exercise, never will, but with a manageable plan and sensible guidance from Liv, I’ve managed to look better than I have done for years. Bring on the big 5 0 this year ...
